The trade-offs

What you gain — and what you give up.

ICE is a lightweight prioritization framework that scores ideas across three dimensions, each rated 1-10: Impact (how much will this move the target metric?), C

Strengths
  • Extremely quick to apply
  • Low overhead, great for brainstorming sessions
  • Simple 1-10 scale is intuitive
  • Good for high-volume idea screening
Limitations
  • Very subjective scoring
  • Lacks the rigor of RICE (no reach or effort estimate)
  • Easy to bias toward easy-to-implement ideas
  • Scores aren't comparable across teams or time
